Custom Photo Pillows Printed From Your Pictures
One photo or up to nine. Free preview before you pay, printed both sides, from $25.

The Photo You Pick Is the Whole Product
With most gifts you choose the object. With this one you choose the object in about four seconds and then spend twenty minutes on the photo, because the photo is the entire thing.
That is time well spent. A custom photo pillow ends up on a sofa or a bed, which means somebody looks at that image every single day for years. It is a very different decision from picking a filter for a post nobody will see again.
Here is the process. Upload one photo or up to nine, adjust the crop in a free preview, and order only when it looks right. Printing is double sided at no extra cost, so the back can carry a second image.
Prices start at $25 and production takes about three days.
This page is mostly about choosing well. Which photos survive being enlarged, which ones you will still like in five years, how collages actually work, and what sizes suit which images.
If you already know the photo, skip to the sizing section. If you are still scrolling your camera roll, read the next two sections first.
What Is a Custom Photo Pillow?
A cushion with your photograph printed across it, edge to edge. You will also see it sold as a custom picture pillow or a custom pillow with picture. Same product, different words.
What arrives
A finished cushion, filled and sewn shut. Standard is 40 x 40 cm square, which is a normal sofa cushion size and the format most photographs suit.
How it is printed
Dye based inks go into the fabric fibers rather than sitting on the surface as a coating. That is why a printed pillow can be washed without the image cracking, and why it feels like fabric rather than like plastic.
Both sides print as standard. Most people use the reverse for a second photo from the same day, or leave it as a plain color pulled from the front image.
Single photo or collage
One photo filling the whole cushion has the most impact. A grid of up to nine works when the point is the collection rather than any single image, for example a year of a relationship or a set of holiday photos.
Past nine images, faces become too small to recognise from across a room, which is usually the opposite of what people want.
What we cannot print
Photographs you do not own the rights to, which in practice means professional wedding or portrait photos still under the photographer's copyright. If you paid for the files and have permission, that is fine. Stock images and pictures pulled from the internet are not.

One Pillow, Up to Nine Photos
Sometimes one photo is not the point. A year of a relationship, a whole holiday, four grandchildren, a group of friends who will never all be in one room again.
For those, use a grid. Up to nine photos on one cushion, arranged evenly, each one still large enough to make out from across a room.
Two rules make collages work. Keep the number under nine, because ten becomes wallpaper. And use photos with a similar feel, since one dark night time shot beside eight bright daytime ones always looks like a mistake.
You can see the whole layout in the preview and rearrange it before paying.

Choosing a Photo You Will Still Like in Five Years
Two things decide whether a custom picture pillow is a good one. Whether the file survives being enlarged, and whether the image still works when you have seen it a thousand times.
The technical half
Aim for at least 1500 pixels on the short side. Recent phone photos clear that easily. Screenshots, images saved from social media and pictures forwarded through messaging apps are compressed and often do not, so find the original file.
Our preview flags a file that is too small before you pay, rather than after it has been printed.
Square photos win
The standard cushion is square, so a square or near square photo drops straight in. A wide landscape shot has to lose the sides and a tall portrait has to lose the top and bottom. Check the preview rather than assuming your favorite photo survives the crop.
The half nobody thinks about
A photo you look at every day is different from a photo you scroll past. Very posed shots and heavily filtered images tend to age badly on an object you live with. Candid photos where people are actually laughing tend to hold up for years.
If you are stuck between a technically perfect posed photo and a slightly imperfect candid one, most people are happier with the candid a year later.
Faces should be big enough
A wide shot of two people standing at the far end of a beach is a lovely photo and a poor pillow, because on a 40 cm cushion those faces are the size of a coin. Crop in before you upload, or choose a closer photo.
Checklist
- Original file, 1500 pixels or more on the short side
- Square or close to it
- Faces large enough to recognise from across a room
- Candid rather than stiff, if you have the choice

Sizes, Fabric and Print Quality
Sizes
- 40 x 40 cm square: the standard, and what most photographs suit
- Mini around 20 cm: desks, car seats, and cheap enough to order in a set
- Large 50 to 60 cm: for a statement piece or a group photo with several faces
- Full body 150 x 50 cm: only sensible for a tall photo of one person
Fabric
Peach skin for photographs, nearly always. It is matte, so skin tones look natural instead of glossy, and it is soft enough to lean against. 2 way tricot adds saturation and shine, which flatters flat artwork but rarely flatters a photo of a person.
About colour accuracy
Worth being honest about this. A screen is backlit and fabric is not, so the brightest whites and most saturated neons land slightly softer in print. Ordinary photographs of people, pets, food and places come out very close to what you see.
If a specific colour matters, for example matching a brand or a wedding palette, mention it when you order and we will tell you whether it is likely to shift.
Filling and finish
Polyester fiber fill that keeps its shape without going lumpy, seams double stitched, and an invisible zipper on the larger sizes so the insert can be removed if you ever want to wash the cover separately.

Occasions People Order Photo Pillows For
Anniversaries
The most common reason by a distance. Usually one photo from the day being marked, sometimes with the date added underneath. First anniversaries and milestone years are the peaks.
Weddings
Either a gift for the couple afterwards, or a set made in advance for the venue. If you are using professional wedding photos, check you have the rights from your photographer first.
New babies and grandparents
A large photo of a grandchild is easier for an older relative to enjoy than a phone screen, and easier than a frame they have to dust. Minis in a set of three, one per grandchild, is a pattern we see constantly.
Long distance
Somebody moving away for work or study, and the person staying behind wanting something physical. Collages work particularly well here because the point is the accumulation of time rather than one moment.
Memorials
For people as well as pets. Tell us when you order and we check the print twice. If the only photo is old and small, send it and we will advise honestly on what size it can carry.
Travel
A landscape from a trip, printed large. This is one of the few cases where a photo without people in it works well, because the appeal is the place rather than the faces.
What people are saying
“PLACEHOLDER. Replace with a real review from an anniversary or wedding order.”
“PLACEHOLDER. Replace with a real review from a customer who ordered a collage.”
“PLACEHOLDER. Replace with a real review mentioning print sharpness or colour.”
Washing and Everyday Care
Washing
Spot clean with a damp cloth and mild soap for everyday marks, which handles most things. For a proper wash use a cold gentle cycle inside a laundry bag and air dry completely.
No hot water, no hot tumble dryer, and never iron the printed surface. Heat is the only thing that reliably damages a dye based print.
Sunlight
The one genuine enemy of a photo pillow is a permanently sunlit windowsill. The ink is in the fibers so there is nothing to peel, but months of direct sun will eventually soften any print. Anywhere else in the room is fine.
Keeping it plump
Fluff it by hand every few weeks like any cushion. Fiber fill recovers on its own and does not need replacing.
If the print is wrong
If what arrives does not match the preview you approved, tell us and we reprint it. Approving the crop before printing is exactly why that is rare.
