Nobody Else Has These Photos
Sisters are the hardest people to surprise, because they know exactly what you would normally buy. A candle, a nice scarf, a bath set with her initial on the lid. She has guessed it before the paper is off.
What a sister has that nobody else does is a shared archive. Every bad haircut, every holiday where somebody cried in the back of the car, every photo of the two of you in matching outfits a parent picked. You were there for all of it, and you know exactly which picture will make her laugh.
That knowledge is the gift. Printing it on something she will keep on her sofa is the easy part.
If she is also the person you would call first in a crisis, the best friend version of this idea is worth a look as well.
Her Face, Larger Than Life
For a sister with a sense of humour, the gift is simply her own face printed edge to edge on a big cushion. It is ridiculous, which is entirely the point.
It works best with a photo she cannot stand. The stiff school portrait, the one caught mid sentence, the passport photo she has hidden for ten years. Choose carefully, because she will be holding it up at the party.
There are two ways to do it: square, or trimmed around her hairline. The trimmed version is funnier. The square one is easier to live with afterwards.

What Sisters Actually Give Each Other
Matching outfits, then and now
The photo of the two of you dressed identically by a parent who thought it was adorable, on the front. The same pose recreated as adults, on the back. Restaging it is half the fun.
The animal you both grew up with
Most siblings share one pet that defined their childhood. The dog you both grew up with, cut to its outline, is a gift about the whole family in a way a human photo sometimes is not.
Her children, from their aunt
Once your sister has children, the best photo in the world is usually of them. Giving it as a present for her first Mother's Day is the kind of thing that gets talked about for years.
The holiday that went wrong
The caravan that leaked, the camping trip in the rain, the beach day with the sunburn. Every family has one photo from a holiday everybody still brings up, and it prints better than any of the good ones.
One each, in two houses
The same photo printed twice, one for each of you. There is no bulk price, so a pair is exactly twice the cost of one and each can ship to a different address.

For The Sister Who Moved Away
When a sister lives in another city or another country, most of the relationship happens on a phone screen at odd hours, with somebody always about to fall asleep.
A cushion of the two of you, posted to her new place, is the one thing in the room that is not a screen. There is a fuller guide to gifts for people who live far apart if distance is the whole story.
Order a second one for yourself and they become a matching pair in two different time zones.

Where The Best Sister Photos Are Hiding
The photos you both remember are rarely on your own phone. They are in four other places.
- Your parents' albums. Childhood pictures are almost always printed and sitting in a drawer at your parents' house. Photograph them flat by a window, straight on.
- Old social media albums from the late 2000s. The files are small, so they suit 20 or 40 cm better than 60. The preview will tell you.
- Her wedding photographer. If she married, the professional gallery holds the best picture of the two of you that has ever been taken.
- Your phone's people search. Most phones now group photos by face, so typing her name brings up years of pictures in seconds.
Upload two or three candidates. The preview shows each one at its real printed size before anything is charged, so the decision gets easier rather than harder.

When Sisters Order These
- Her birthday, especially the thirtieth and fortieth, when a grid of photos across the decades makes more sense than one picture.
- The morning of her wedding, as a maid of honour present, with a photo of the two of you as bridesmaids at somebody else's wedding years ago.
- When she becomes a mother, and the first photo of her with the baby is the obvious choice.
- Christmas, where the 20 cm size is small enough to go in a stocking.
- After losing a parent, when a photograph of the parent you shared says what a card cannot.
The format is the same for all of them. Only the photograph changes.
Funny Or Sentimental? How To Decide
Most sister gifts fall into one of two camps, and choosing the wrong one is the only real way to get this wrong.
Go funny when
- The two of you mostly communicate through teasing and memes.
- It is being opened in front of other people, at a party or on Christmas morning.
- She has a photo she famously hates and has asked everybody to delete.
Go sentimental when
- She is going through something hard, like a move, a break up or a loss.
- You live far apart and do not see each other often.
- It marks a big change: her wedding, a first baby, a new country.
If you genuinely cannot decide, do both. The joke on the front gets the laugh when she opens it. The real photo on the back is the one she turns it round to when nobody else is in the room. Because the back prints at no extra cost, you do not have to pick.
Sizes, Pairs And Postage
- 40 cm for one photo of the two of you. The most ordered size, and the one that sits best on a sofa.
- 60 cm for her face as a joke, or for a grid of several photos.
- 20 cm for a stocking, a desk at work or a bedside table.
- The back is printed at no extra cost, so there is always room for a second photo.
It can ship straight to her with a note, or to you to wrap. The photo is dyed into the fibres rather than sitting on top, so it survives the washing machine. For ideas that are less about the two of you and more about her, our wider guide to gifts for women goes through photo choice by size.
Photos To Think Twice About
Siblings know each other's sore points better than anybody, which makes it easy to pick a photo that lands badly without meaning to.
- Anything with an ex. Even a great photo of the two of you is ruined by a former partner at the edge of the frame. Crop them out completely or choose another.
- A picture from a time she struggled with. A photo from a year she does not like remembering can sting, however good you both look in it.
- A joke photo going somewhere public. Her face mid sneeze is funny at a family party and less funny at her office birthday drinks. Think about where it will be opened.
- A photo of you that is better than the photo of her. Check her face first. If one of you has to be blinking, it should be you.
- Low resolution screenshots. A screenshot from a video call or a story looks fine on a phone and soft on a cushion. Find the original, or choose a smaller size.
- A photo that leaves out a sibling. If there are three or more of you, a picture of just two can quietly upset whoever is missing. Either include everybody, or make it obviously about something only the two of you shared, like a trip you took together.
If the photo you love most has a small flaw, like a stranger in the background or a little motion blur, upload it anyway. The preview shows how noticeable it really is at the size you have chosen, and minor problems often disappear once a picture is printed on fabric rather than viewed on a bright screen.
When in doubt, ask a parent or her partner. One quiet message usually settles it, and they can often send a better photo than the one you found.
