WHY PEOPLE ORDER IT
The simplest thing we make
No outline to trace and no shape to approve. A square, your photograph, three sizes. It is the one people order when they just want the picture on a cushion.
A collage that stays legible
We lay out multiple photos so each one still reads from across a room. Past about nine images that stops being true, and we will tell you so.
Both sides at no extra cost
One photo on the front and a different one on the back, which is what most people do once they realise it costs the same.
Removable cover
Square shapes take a standard insert, so the cover unzips and washes separately and the insert can be replaced years later.
HOW IT WORKS

WHICH SIZE TO PICK
| Size | Roughly | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 20 cm | 8 inches | A car seat, a desk or a child's bed. One photo only. A collage at this size is unreadable. |
| 40 cm | 16 inches | The standard sofa cushion and the one most people order. Handles a single photo or up to four in a collage. |
| 60 cm | 24 inches | A floor cushion or a statement piece on a bed. The only size where a nine photo collage still works. |
WHO ORDERS THIS ONE
- Anyone who wants one specific photograph on something they use daily
- Couples marking an anniversary with the year rather than a single moment
- Families turning a holiday camera roll into one object
- People furnishing a room who want the cushions to mean something
- Anyone buying a first custom gift and not wanting to overthink it
The plainest thing we make
A square cushion printed with a photograph you already have. No outline to trace, no shape to approve, no design decisions beyond which picture and how big. It is the least complicated product on this site and it is the one people order most, which are probably related facts.
The whole appeal is that the photograph moves out of a phone and into a room. A picture on a screen gets looked at when you go looking for it. A picture on a cushion is simply there, every day, without anybody deciding to look at it.
One photo, or several
Single photo
The image gets the entire surface. This suits a portrait, a photograph of a place, or one picture that is genuinely better than the others. If you are hesitating between two, this is a sign to order two cushions rather than a collage.
Collage
Several photos arranged in a grid. This is what people choose for a year of a relationship, a holiday, or a set of pictures where no single one carries the memory alone.
There is a limit worth knowing before you order. Up to four images at 40 cm and up to nine at 60 cm stay legible from across a room. Past that, each face is smaller than a thumbnail and the cushion stops reading as a photograph of anybody in particular. It becomes a pattern. Some people want exactly that, and if you do, say so. Most people who ask for twenty photos on one cushion do not.
Which photos actually print well
Almost all of them. This is not a demanding product in the way that a face pillow or a 150 cm body pillow is, because the image is not enlarged as dramatically.
Anything shot on a phone in the last few years is fine at every size we offer. The failures are not about camera quality, they are about how the file reached you.
The compression problem
A screenshot of a photo is a photo of a screen. A picture forwarded through a messaging app has been compressed to move quickly over a network. An image saved from social media has been compressed at upload and again at download. Each of those steps throws away detail permanently.
At 20 cm you will probably not notice. At 60 cm you will. So go into the camera roll and send the original, which takes the same amount of effort and produces a visibly better cushion.
What about old photos?
Scanned prints and photos from older cameras usually work at 20 cm and 40 cm. At 60 cm they show their age. Send it either way and we will say honestly what it will look like at each size before you pay anything, which is the point of the preview.
Sizes, and what people actually do with them
At 20 cm it is small. A car seat, a desk, a child's bed. One photo only, because a collage at this size is unreadable.
At 40 cm it is a normal sofa cushion. This is the default and the one most orders land on. A single photo works and a collage of up to four works.
At 60 cm it is a floor cushion or a statement piece on a bed. It is also the only size where a nine photo collage still functions as photographs rather than as texture.
The removable cover, and why it matters more than it sounds
Square shapes take a standard insert, which means the cover unzips. That has two practical consequences. The cover washes on its own rather than dragging a wet insert through a dryer. And when the insert eventually goes flat, as every polyester fibre insert does, you replace the insert rather than reprinting the photograph.
This is not true of every shape we make. A die cut shape cannot have a removable cover, because filling shaped to a rectangle collapses inside an irregular outline. If a removable cover matters to you, stay square.
Where this sits next to the other shapes
If the photograph is of a pet and you would rather the cushion followed their outline than sat in a square, that is a custom pet pillow, and the photo advice there is specific to fur and lighting.
If it is a face and you want it enlarged rather than placed in a scene, a custom face pillow crops far tighter and is a different kind of object.
If you want something at full length rather than cushion scale, a custom body pillow is 150 by 50 cm and the layout considerations change completely.
The custom photo pillow guide covers photo preparation in more depth than a product page sensibly can, including what to do with group shots and scanned prints, and custom pillows lays out the whole range side by side.
Questions worth answering first
Can I add a name or a date?
Yes. Send the words with the photo and we set them into the layout. Names, dates and short phrases sit well. Paragraphs do not, because text small enough to fit is text too small to read.
What happens to a portrait photo on a square cushion?
Something has to give. Either the top and bottom get cropped, or the photo sits inside the square with space around it. You see which one we have chosen before you pay, and you can ask for the other.
Is one cushion a real order?
Yes. No minimum quantity, no bulk tier to reach. Most orders here are one cushion.
How long does it take?
Three days of production once you approve the layout, plus shipping. A collage takes the same three days as a single photo, because the layout work happens before production starts.

Washing and care
Unzip the cover and wash it cold on a gentle cycle inside a laundry bag, then let it air dry. Do not tumble dry and keep a hot iron off the printed face. The insert is aired and reshaped by hand rather than washed. Because the cover is removable and the size is standard, the insert can be replaced years later without reprinting anything.
Production and shipping
Production takes three days from the moment you approve the layout, then shipping is added on top and shown at checkout for your address. A collage takes the same three days as a single photo, because the layout work happens before production rather than during it.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Up to four at 40 cm and up to nine at 60 cm while staying legible from across a room. You can send more and we will lay them out, but past nine each face is smaller than a thumbnail and the object stops reading as a photograph of anybody.
